That was so intelligent, so thoughtful, so analytic, so insightful, and also so personal. What a treat for viewing.

He pays Walton the ultimate compliment in a team game. He had to consider every other player on Walton’s team and how Walton would find him for a score. It is more important than just scoring points and stopping your guy. Too bad he couldn’t have played against Bill Russell, the ultimate team player and ultimate winner in team sports. No one made his teammates more effective than Russell.

I remember Moses in the 1983 season. He was almost unstoppable. Chick Hearn would throw up his hands because Moses was like the Energizer bunny. I was a Laker fan back then, but that season Moses just took over the game. Another guy around that time who could give Kareem a really bad time and make him look bad sometimes was Artis Gilmore.

When Moses Malone was mentioned at #2 I was sure #1 was going to be Hakeem Olajuwon. The Dream was already a bad boy coming out of college. Moses Malone took Hakeem Olajuwon under his wing and made him the monster he became in the NBA. And he gave Kareem and the Lakers fits on the basketball court. For him to not even be mentioned is unreal. I don't believe this is actually Kareem saying this, especially to have Bill Walton at #1.
