Every time I did meth I felt like part of me died. It was the opposite of stream of consciousness, it made me anti social. So glad I'm done with that crap

bob weir, grateful dead's guitarist said he was his art. Canvases preserve the painters work, scores the musicians and books the writer but Cassady channeled all his genius into his personality. His canvas was the way he lived and therefore is mostly lost. But we have this video. and we have on the road, the better encapsulation of the man

Kerouac said it best in "On the road " He was a young jail kid all hung-up on the wonderful possibilities of becoming a real intellectual, and he liked to talk in the tone and using the words, but in a jumbled way," The man was way ahead of his time when pertaining to drug fueled, homosexual and non conforming behavior compared to the quiet dullness of the late 1940's and 50's suburban post war era. People like him didn't exist in that day, he was some sort of human anomaly that made his appeal very strong to the counter culture movement.
