  I went to college for Archaeology, and spent two years studying Mesoamerica SPECIFICALLY. What&apos;s funny is Miguel and Tulio are coded like the twin brothers in the story from the Popol Vuh; A Maya text that tells the story of Hunahpu and Xbalanque (The Hero Twins) and how they avenge their father&apos;s death while in Xibalba and later ascend as the sun and the moon. It&apos;s to the point that the number &apos;It&apos;s Tough to be a God&apos; has a bunch of references to the trials that the Hero Twins faced in that story. (They even play the ball game)<br><br>The whole movie, to me, plays as if it&apos;s a D&amp;D Game that someone who loves/studies Mesoamerican culture creates and has two friends play (A thief and a bard), then later another friend joins and plays Chel. It explains the Nat 20 persuasion of the volcano, and the plot that causes the party to get to avoid the biggest bad in the game (Cortez). All I&apos;m saying is if this was a D&amp;D game made into animation, I would not be surprised. XD

  I love how the cheif found out Miguel and Tulio weren&apos;t gods and tell anyone. He didn&apos;t say anything or punish them. He&apos;s just happy they could give his people hope. It&apos;s very refreshing compared to the usual liar revealed trope.
