  Another feature of the &apos;hammer block&apos; safety on the Heritage Rough Rider is that it does just that - it absolutely and mechanically stops the forward motion of the hammer before it reaches the firing pin striker, thus permitting dry firing without fear of damage (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoI8czUG3Bk&amp;t=295">4:55</a>). So, go ahead, dry fire away. <br><br>As for the hammer spring, don&apos;t flex it - shim it. Remove the grip panels. Cut a small piece from a smooth area on an old credit card, the exact width width of the hammer spring and about an inch and a-half long. Insert a hardwood or metal dowel between the spring and the leading edge of the grip frame near the top, proximal to the trigger guard. Roll the dowel toward the butt until a sufficient gap opens between the spring and its contact point on the grip frame. Insert the shim, remove the dowel, re-install the grip panels, and put your troubles in the rearview mirror.

  Our heritage has been flawless over the years, but the day is coming when I get to crack it open to fix something...the company ought to advertise how simple it is to repair anything on the gun, encouraging folks to try their hand at amateur gunsmithing...the parts are available, it does not require fancy tools, and excellent videos like this show how to get it done...carry on...!

  Very well done video.Your knowledge and direction was very helpful.Was at the range yesterday shooting our 6.5 inch Rough Rider and started to experience many light strikes.We have over 3,000 rounds through this revolver with out a light strike until yesterday.We are going to replace the the hammer spring.Thank you again for your helpful video.We subscribed.

  Thank you for this video! &nbsp;took the reloading gate out of my Barkeep today and had to figure out how to get it back in. &nbsp;First time doing more than just field stripping/cleaning.
