  Agree with most of this, but how do we know that Facebook was even entirely Zuckerberg’s idea? He had to settle with the Winklevoss twins, Divya Narendra and Eduardo Saverin for IP theft.

  I still remember the secret to Facebook&apos;s early success that no one seems to bring up: it would go into your email contacts list and spam everyone in your email (sent from facebook, of course) letting them know you just signed up to Facebook. It did this by disguising the request for contacts as a way to &quot;find your friends.&quot; This was hugely advantageous, because the emails coming from FB made it sound like you were recommending the product to your friends and family.<br><br>This was going on from like 2007 to 2011, and then I think they kinda stopped doing it, maybe over privacy concerns, or because it was no longer effective once a huge % of people had joined.
