You know why compared to Robotnik Metal Sonic will always be the more terrifying threat to face? Because unlike Eggman who wants Sonic Dead or defeated to stop them from interfering in his plans and to properly Win against him, Metal wants to prove HE is the one true Sonic, he wants to BE Sonic and will go through any length to prove he is the only Sonic that exists. The desperation and terror caused by a person like that is a force of nature compared to eggmans controlled chaos.

I think that neither the super form nor the fights nor the ancient gods are going to surprise them as much as Eggman being a Father of metal and sage and treat them with care
