  I love how well you articulated your issues with the film. I myself had the same problems when viewing it and ended up not liking it as much as other people. I really wish they did a series covering his life rather than a film. It would have really allowed his story to flesh itself out properly and for there to be a lot more details in every part of his story.

  Id agree as well that it sands a lot of the naunce and struggles in his career. Like miraculously he puts off the wall out and goes solo after being a group act. It just brushes through a lot of the struggles and the fraustrations of off the wall not hitting the heights he hoped and doubling his efforts and perfectionism for thriller.<br><br>I dont need historical accuracy to a T, so as long as your driving your themes and characters forward. But i really feel like dont get any quiet scenes with michael. I understand that they him to be a mystery but it would be interesting to see in the quiet moments how his fathers abuse and perfectionism effects him. I think thats one thing the broadway play did well. <br><br>I agree that it feels like a very point by point &quot;here what happend and then this happend&quot;. If i want that ill go read the wiki or watch a youtube summary. What this movie needed was a bit more rounding of his character. I wanted the movie to maybe just pick a very tight timeframe and stay there like the springsteen and bob marley movies did recently. Michaels life especially has just too much to jam into one 3 hour movie. Just stick to one singular story, the story of a man who is shaped by a abusive past trying to break free of it yet falling into similar trappings. His own self worth about his image and success. How family politics, industry politics and internal strife made him into artist he evolved into from off the wall to thriller. He is a man trapped in almost every way and yet he breaks free. How? Show how all the forces tried to prevent him from breaking through and him preservering. The movie just wanted to have too many easter eggs like bubbles and the beat it scene. Yeah its cool and all but what did it really mean? He watches some news thing and makes a song. Why? Show us the why and the how not just a montage of a wall full of sticky notes. <br><br>Overall it feels like a movie that feels too scared to show us a michael that hurt. A michael that was even with all the fame and popularity still a human. To me what is most interesting about him was his relentlessness which certainly could have come from his dad. Show that. Show us the ugly parts. Otherwise ill go watch a documentary or read a novelization. Move the discourse forward in a interesting way. Try to be something more than just some by the books biopic. <br><br>Yes michael made it look effortless, but it sure as heck wasnt. And this movie made it look more effortless than it was to get onto mtv, to make thriller and beat it etc. Fine you dont have to show every struggle. But atleast what we see him accomplish in the film feels like a fight and struggle. It doesnt really feel like we saw michael evolve or develop between off the wall and thriller. Overall its like a 2 1/2 star film. Jafar and coleman do good and hearing michaels music on the big screen recreated will always be a treat. But overall this feels like a tribute band that is tracing movements than breaking new grounds. Great video, im sure this film as it goes on will have some interesting discourse. Hopefully the part 2 will be a more interesting piece. Maybe that wont make for a audience pleaser but it would be a lot more interesting than another wiki summary on film😂
