When my husband was stationed in camp Lejeune. After one of the hurricanes in 96. His platoon was out for a run. The men were used to jumping over downed trees and stuff. He said ahead of him he could hear the guys yell tree as they jumped over them. At one point you would hear tree tree tree. Then next he heard was snake! One of the items they thought was a limb. Was a snake. Apparently it got tired of being jumped over and moved.

Actually, moccasins as an aquatic venomous snake in NC, however copperheads LOVE water and swim very well.
