  One significant choice is to have a partner who is on the same page as you. The impact of having a partner who isn’t on the same wavelength can often be quite disastrous, more so if children are involved.

  I’d add a habit of “no spending days”. Pick a day, two or three per week /month when you refrain yourself from buying. No buying on that day. I found it very difficult at the very beginning but it helps to keep the discipline and makes you be creative with using what you already have.

  Decided I wanted to retire early and travel the world. <br>Automated max 401k, max Roth IRA, and $100 a month into brokerage accounts buying mutual funds. 6 months to a year of emergency savings. Automated all bills including prepaying property taxes monthly. Cook all my own food. What ever is left after bills is mine to spend on anything I want around $100-200. No debt ever, paid off the small foreclosure condo in 2 yrs and eleven months living on rice and beans. Stayed small and minimal, no point in having stuff and large home if you want to retire early and travel the world. I keep up with all health screenings religiously, I never feel restricted because I am not missing anything I have always seen measurable progress to my goal every month. 😊

  <b>We paid off our last credit card on New Year&apos;s Eve so we&apos;re into 2026 credit card free! This year we plan to pay off our truck, which is our last debt (other than our mortgage) and then we are never going back!!</b>
