The "cool" air used to cool turbine blades is NOT freezing. It's actually pretty hot. It's just not as hot as the gases it is protecting against.

It's worth pointing out that stealth hasn't ever really been about being able to hide completely, it is well known that you can use long wavelength radar to warn you that jets are roughly in an area. That's what those huge radars the Russians have are all about.

I mean the problem with thermal detection is that from far away even a big jet looks like a single pixel and if you have cloud cover it can become impossible to see. You don't need to be invisible, you just need to make it hard enough for them to target you that your missle can hit first.

Great video. The only mistake (that nearly everybody seems to be making) is the claim that when the radar-absorbing skin absorbs incoming radar waves, it heats up so much as to become an issue that needs to be handled. In reality, the energy density of a typical incoming radar signal is so many orders of magnitude lower than other heat sources, present in this situation, that it makes this factor to be completely irrelevant.

Arguably the best video I have ever seen, perfect down to the tiniest detail, in Homelander's words👌

Great video! Combining publicly available info with the accompanying formulas makes it far better understandable for me. Thank you! 👍🏻
