With over 50 years experience (old school) i say: someone has trained you well. Iodine and holding parameters is key.

pests (nudis, Aiptasia), water parameter shifts, lighting stress (too strong/weak/wrong spectrum), or a buildup of film algae/detritus from poor flow or high nutrients (phosphates/nitrates). The best approach is to first check for visible pests, then ensure stable water parameters, adjust flow and lighting gradually, and gently clean the polyps to encourage them to open.
