  The Preacher was a Revenant, a spirit made corporeal to exact righteous vengeance. Just like in High Plains Drifter, and The Crow. Somehow, in Pale Rider, the mine baron and Stockburn were connected to the Preacher, and this was the only way the Preacher could be at rest. I like the mystery of it all... which makes it a great ghost story

  That shot where the Preacher reveals the bullet scars on his back was the moment everything shifted — he wasn’t just a drifter or a holy man. That scene hinted he was something beyond the living, and it gave the whole film a haunting weight.

  I saw an interview with Clint Eastwood where he stated that because in High plains drifter it was vague whether or not he was a spirit, he wanted to revisit that theme make it clear in &nbsp;Pale Rider that it was

  I’m a film maker and next week we &nbsp;start shooting a western that was inspired by this character as well as high plains drifter. These character inspired the script and your summation is right in line with ours. Great channel.
