As a bit of a bourbon nut myself:<br>1) The most widely accepted story as to where Bourbon got its name, When shipping whiskey from Kentucky down the Mississippi river, a lot of the whiskey was packed in barrels marked Bourbon, not to designate what was in the barrel, but to mark it as being from Bourbon County Kentucky. People then began asking for "That Bourbon Whiskey" and thus the origin of the name.<br><br>2) Several distilleries continued to make bourbon during prohibition, legally under medical spirits licenses<br><br>3) More a fun fact, As the color comes 100% from the barrel, so does much of the flavor notes. While the mash bill does impact the flavor, the barrel itself has much more of an impact then people realize. <br><br>4) Not all Picks are single barrels. Several brands (such as Woodford) do pick programs where you get a special blend that is meant to differ if only slightly from the standard blending philosophy for their shelf product. Also, how you explain how picks work, especially with Buffalo trace is a little off. Specifically with Sazerac (parent company to Buffalo Trace) there is a lottery to allow people to do picks due to the demand for their products (marketing at its best).<br><br>5) Small batch is the best example of Marketing. More then likely, Heavan Hill (parent company for both Larceny and Elijah Craig) have similar batch sizes to Buffalo trace.<br><br>6) Another fun fact. I know you already have a comment correcting that Blantons is not a wheated bourbon. Of the 4 mashbills used by Buffalo Trace, Blantons would fall into their "high rye bourbon" mashbill, known as mashbill 2. While BT does not make their mashbills public, the general understanding is that MB2 is likely within 2% of the rye content of MB1, both of which have less then 20% rye in their Mashbill.<br><br>None of this is meant to be a slight against the video, but I do love bourbon, and love to help spread the word for those who might not be as deep into the brown juice as others. And remember, there is no wrong way to drink bourbon, drink it how you enjoy it. CHEERS!

Just remember Elmer T Lee mixed his Bourbon with a bit of Sprite and he was a master distiller at Buffalo Trace.

Very entertaining and informative! I enjoyed myself.<br><br>There were a couple moments where Anders and all those bottles reminded me of a little boy given the opportunity to explain his FAVORITE toy collection, say hot Wheels cars, metal vs. plastic frames, rare vs. non rare, etc. we will all be educated!

I didn't know I wanted this video so much. I don't live in the Americas and most liquor stores around where I live sell the same 3 bourbons. I do love bourbon and old fashioneds and had been wanting to delve deeper, but that's pretty difficult without any guidance so I have been putting it off to buy a finer bottle for so long. Your taste and discernment always seem to be way ahead of any other cocktail/drinking channel or website. Will definitely be hitting up a specialty whiskey store sometime soon to buy and compare a high rye, wheated and high corn bourbon.Thousand times thanks, Anders!

Ten years ago, if I wanted to sip a whiskey neat, I always chose a scotch. My only bourbon experience early in life was cheap, harsh ones. As I got older, I only used them in a cocktail. I now realize that there are great bourbons that rival a great scotch.
