How a 21-Year-Old Invented Television Then Had It Stolen by the Most Powerful Corporation in America

In 1922, a fifteen-year-old farm boy from Idaho sketched something on his high school chalkboard that his chemistry teacher had never seen before. It was a blueprint for a device that didn't exist yet — a machine that could capture light and send it through the air. Five years later, working out of a tiny rented lab in San Francisco, he made it work. His name was Philo T. Farnsworth. He was twenty-one years old. And the most powerful corporation in America was about to try to take everything from him. This is the story of the real inventor of television — and why his name was almost erased from history. ⏱ TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 — A boy in a log cabin 2:14 — The generator that changed everything 4:37 — The chalkboard sketch that stunned his teacher 7:02 — From radio repairman to laboratory inventor 9:18 — "There you are — electronic television" 11:45 — The dollar sign demonstration 13:30 — David Sarnoff and the RCA empire 16:08 — The spy in the laboratory 18:41 — The $100,000 offer 20:55 — The patent war begins 23:12 — "Undisputed inventor of television" 25:30 — The World's Fair and the stolen credit 27:44 — How World War II destroyed Farnsworth's patents 29:50 — The Golden Age he never profited from 32:15 — Zenith and the death of American television 34:28 — 165 patents and an empty bank account 36:40 — The schoolchildren who carved his name in stone 📖 SOURCE: The historical facts, census data, and biographical details in this video are based on the U.S. Census Bureau's feature article about Philo T. Philo Farnsworth held over 165 patents. He won his case against RCA in the U.S. Patent Office. He was declared the "undisputed inventor of television." And yet, when he died in 1971, most Americans had never heard his name. Today, his bronze statue stands in the U.S. Capitol with three words on its base: "Father of Television." If you've ever watched anything on a screen — any screen — you owe something to this man. #PhiloFarnsworth #Television #InventorOfTV #RCA #DavidSarnoff #TVHistory #ForgottenGenius #PatentWar #TechHistory #Documentary
