  This song will always give me chills. It is such a great performance. Lara is 100% invested in the song and it’s lyrics. I still get heart broken in each listen.

  One of the best live performances ever. Such a shame the video stopped too soon. Seeing her needing so much time to come back out of character was incredible.

  It's amazing how Lara can combine perfect technique with strong emotion. She's really one of the best.

  No one just opens themselves and bleeds on the stage like Lara Fabian--and nowhere moreso than this performance of this song.

  The quivering breaths... And when she drops back to speaking voice like singing doesn't make sense anymore... And when she lowers the mic and kind of shouts out directly to the audience... Just perfect ❤

  Oh no they cut the video short. The part where it takes her a while to center herself and land back in the present is quite telling of just how emotionally invested she is

  So many of you stop TOO SOON ... closing down the video once she stops singing. Your impatience steals the dessert from this musical banquet. You miss the final beautiful piece of her masterful artistry.  Go back and watch the next 30 seconds AFTER she finishes singing!

  The whole concert is a MASTERCLASS in singing and artistry. After this song, she visibly has to get out of her headstate, this song did come from a place deep inside and you feel it, even if you don't speak french, though the lyrics are simply amazing as well.

  “Je suis Malade”, now a french classic, &nbsp;was written by famous French singer &amp; songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. <br>This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …).<br><br>When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours.<br>The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes. <br><br>Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song &nbsp;was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad.<br><br>But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s. <br>At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two &nbsp;inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet.
