  I am a retired &nbsp;Industrial Engineer / IT Project Manager. I was born and raised in Canada, , and when I was young, employers seemed to be more compassionate and caring toward their employees. I experienced a few situations where an employee had drinking issues, or caused disruption in the workplace, and they were given a second chance because they had a family to support, etc. Also, there was a significant difference with how a layoff situation was handled versus firing someone.<br><br>Fast forward a few decades, and the processes related to firing or laying off someone are essentially the same. Now, terminations are very cold and impersonal. Throughout most of my career, it was common for a person to receive two weeks notice before losing their position, and an employee was expected to give a similar amount of notice before quitting their job. Given the current situation, I wouldn&apos;t hold it against someone if they decided to quit a job without giving prior notice. Fair is fair.

  just 80 , Dell has laid of so many employees maybe 10,000 - 20,000 or even more this year . Every other product or team got impacted . Just from one product i think more than 80 people got impacted and all this was happening parallely across multiple teams . And even after this huge number still no news

  Oiling the Capitalist Machine with the blood of the workers.<br>Had an overseas Indian Team who were meticulous in execution of any task.<br>Worked alongside Indian men who had not seen their family in two years.<br>Laid off, no complaint, just gratitude for time employed.<br>Always best dressed.<br>Time to turn the table over.

  Unemployment insurance coverage should start off at the time of starting a job - funded by the corporation, individual contribution, and a small % contribution from the government (tax payers money should not be the primary source). The government should only provide policies, regulations, governance models, monitoring, and enforcement with the corporate entity and the insurance company.<br><br>The amount gathered should help fund basic healthcare, upskilling, training, and certification, and re-employment into the workforce.
