Pick what you like, not based on what a buyer may possibly want. Most buyers get rid of most flooring and repaint. Enjoy your home the way you like it.

We sold our house this year after living there 25 years. We had gorgeous custom Brazilian teak floors. They were by far the most stunning and valuable part of our home. Everyone who viewed the house commented on the gorgeous floors. The buyers ripped them out and put in vinyl flooring. Even the flooring guy was upset. Who rips out teak floors in pristine condition?! Now I live in a house with cheap junk manufactured flooring that sounds awful. I miss those floors 😢.

I learned the hard way that textured flooring traps dirt and debris, making floors get gross really fast. They are also hard to clean.

The most reasonably priced and efficient trend is to follow your heart and decorate the house the way that you like. Interior design designers will have you changing things every three years or less and quite frankly it’s ridiculous. Homes designed in a certain era look perfect with dark cherry wood floors. My 1925 bungalow has medium toned, pecan stained oak floors. Would I change them? No! I enjoy these videos in terms of accessories and things like that, but I will never allow myself to be dragged around by manufacturing trends.

I actually love the red toned stained oaks., and cherry wood, I am sick of the more dreary, cloudy.and metallic tones.

Guess I'm just old fashion. I prefer the warmer tones on the floor and cabinets. Hate the white and very light color trend. It's too cold and sterile IMO. Problem is these are just "trends" and eventually go out of style. Pick what you like and be happy about it.

As I'm become a Real Estate Agent, enjoy what you like in your home. When you go to sell and your floors are still in great condition, don't change them. Do other important things like have great walls and paint. The new buyers will have the opportunity to remodel after you.

Never understood the gray trend. Some real estate pictures you see have so much gray that you can't even tell if the pictures is in color or black and white!

It may not be trending but the old fashioned 2 1/2 inch hardwood sure is timeless. My house was built in 1988 with that hardwood in the dining room and foyer. About four years ago I was able to buy and match that same flooring in my greatroom and kitchen and hallway. It’s is seamless. My friend with a 1960 house used the leftovers to repair a section of her floor.

If you decorate your home according to trends not what you like, you will spend your life living in a house not a home and you are a fool.
