  I remember reading a quote that similar to what Newton confronted, when Einstein through mathematics discovered that Black Holes exist, he found the idea absurd and that the universe would find a way to “correct” itself (which is why in current models without mastering dark energy, wormholes are unstable) but we now know through Hawking Radiation how Black Holes remain in existence <br>Another documentary I saw was up to the 70s-80s, black holes were still seen as science fiction akin to unicorns

  Very ridged objects at rest probably would stay put without any force to nudge them upward. &nbsp;And don&apos;t forget there would still be inertia. &nbsp;So you could still get crushed by a 100 ton object that was free floating... do mot get punched between that object and a wall.

  Energy cannot be created or destroyed.... hence the question .... what happens to all the gravitational potential energy. &nbsp;Perhaps its absurd as gravity cannot just disappear because energy cannot just disappear. &nbsp;But in this scenario you might need to ask what happens to all the potential energy. &nbsp;Potential energy is like accounting. &nbsp;To create separation between to objects energy must be put in to create the gap.. to move the masses away from each other to overcome their mutual gravitationalattraction. &nbsp;The energyput in to achieve that separation diesnt just disappear.... it remains on the books as potential energyand can be retrieved. &nbsp;Think of the enormousenergy of heat being released when a space capsule returns to earth and slows down. &nbsp; Thsts the exchange of potential energy being released.. the energy it took in the 1st place to reach space with the firing of rocket engines. &nbsp;So all objects have potential energy relative to each other. &nbsp; Turn off gravity and suddenlythst accounting vanishes. &nbsp; Suddenlyall that stored energy goes to zero. But energy cannot be destroyed. &nbsp;Hmmm. Does it therefore create enormousexplosions... that being equal to the potentialenergynot allowed to be potentialanymore because there is no gravity? &nbsp;If energy cannot be destroyed and we say thete is no potential energy because thete is no gravity then what happensto it. &nbsp;If it is released as explosions then when gravity turned back on objects would no longerhave potentialenergydespite their distances apart. &nbsp; Coulda spacecapsulereturn to earth without a fireball as it has no potential energy. &nbsp;Pethaos the question is meaningless because energy cannot be destroyed. &nbsp;Who knows. &nbsp;But it is a thought that was not discussed among the impacts of turning off gravity.
