Not a boring mega project at all: “amateurs talk tactics, professionals study logistics.”

Tactics wins battles, logistics win wars. That stealth tanker is worth more than all the robot bombers, and for a better price as well.

In the USAF there is the old saying: "No kickin' ass without tanker gas!"

To find the stealth fighters, look for the tankers. If the tankers are also stealth, the task becomes more difficult.

I was previously a U.S. Navy Naval Flight Officer for A-6's, and during each of my deployments, at least every 3rd flight I did was a tanker flight. Day or night, in any type of weather, flying in circles waiting for another aircraft in need of fuel.

Simon turning a flying gas station into a gripping story is honestly impressive! :hand-orange-covering-eyes:

No military in the world has the logistics that we do. so a "boring" tanker is exactly what makes us the most dangerous. good logistics

Making something affordable that actually works that the US Navy needs urgently is not boring. It's a pleasant change from all the over-ambitious disasters the US Navy has perpetrated over the last 20 years.

Those business jets certainly could launch off a carrier deck. You can launch anything off a carrier deck, once. Whether you get it back or not is a completely different story.

Not boring. EXCELLENT. Successful warfighting is NEVER just guns on the front. Logistics win wars.
