What if the biggest secret to saving money isn't what you buy, but how much room you have to hide it? 🏠💸 Which of these Japanese kitchen habits surprised you the most?

This might be nice for some people, but we are taught to store food & water for emergencies.

This is actually true, but dismissing inflation is very disingenuous!

There's nothing in my pantry that isn't used almost daily and definitely weekly. I wouldn't be without it. Fortunately, where I live we're not cramped in like sardines as you are in Japan 😮

Not if you live in a small village in Greece, where you have to drive for an hour to buy groceries. We stack up, you don't know what's comming for you (like the floods we had).

In the US, if you don’t store up, you won’t have it during hard times. While comparisons are good, understanding the time here in the US is critical. This is like comparing apples to oranges.

When I was in my early 20's (during the 1980s) I rented a room in a relatively small town in England. It was just an eight-minute walk from there to my work, with plenty of shopping and places to grab lunch within easy walking distance. With a small refrigerator and other roommates, there wasn't much room for more than a day or two of groceries for each person, which made it easier to keep track of food and not let it spoil. I still try to live a relatively minimalistic and intentional lifestyle, with a minimum of clutter.

We are looking at a different culture. America has more land and different culture. Our homes support the food we need because stores are not near us.

That's why there are so many food machines in Japan! They don't take lunch, they buy food every day when out. I do wonder what will happen when disaster hits and the stores close down due to it. If you have no food storage you are dependant on your city or govsrnment.
