  when I was younger, I used to be able to do an extremely believable lion roar. A human may have even had difficulty telling it apart from the real thing, so I can pretty much guarantee you if you played it for an actual lion, they would notice the difference. Still it was pretty remarkable coming from a human.

  It's incredibly easy to believe that they can strip meat from bones with their tongues even if you've never actually seen it before, because if you've ever been licked repeatedly in the same spot by a house cat, it's enough to make your skin raw, and my mom used to have a cat that did just that. I would have to move to a different spot for him to lick and then he would always try to get back to the original spot. If a house cat can lick a human skin raw, then it makes perfect sense that a lion can do something very similar on a much larger scale.

  I love The Lion King, but OMG that movie has so many holes as compared with the way the real wild works that's rather entertaining to poke them.

  females are smaller, faster, and more agile, but they are also less conspicuous than males with their big red, brown, or black manes. Interestingly enough males are at their hunting prime when they are adolescence, at the stage after they've left the pride but before they take control of their own pride, as this is a point where their manes have not fully developed and they have not reached their full adult size, allowing them to conceal themselves better like the females do and be able to approach pray without being detected. Once they become full-fledged adults, this actually becomes more of a challenge for them.
