I'm a little late to the party with this one, even though I started writing it the second season two ended - I wanted to make sure I had all my thoughts perfectly in order because it was such a complicated topic with SO MUCH content to dig through, but I'm satisfied with how it turned out. Hope you enjoy, and thank you for watching! I'd love to know your thoughts.

Vi was such a revolutionary in s1 and seeing her put on an enforcer uniform AND gas her hometown was more than upsetting to say the least.

I think what's really frustrating about S2 is how cowardly it is. It's afraid of letting characters burn bridges, afraid of making any of their champions too evil, trying to excuse their actions by pining the blame somewhere else. S1 worked because it was bold, it wasn't afraid of making characters go the deep end and complicate the stories in ways that end badly for everyone. I don't think the takeaway from the ending of the first season was "surely these two sides will get along and every main character will reconcile before its over". And yet THAT was the ending they aimed for. Shameful.

Taking Mel out of the show and reducing her to someone who has 3 abilities and an ult so she can be in the videogame is a brilliant storytelling mechanism used to foreshadow the fact that corporations deserve [redacted]

My mom <i>loved</i> the first season of Arcane. <i>Loved</i> it. But the second season came. And when she watched the second season she saw <i>right through</i> Riot’s bs. She doesn’t even know much about the corporation nor the game itself. But she instantly spotted the shift in tone and how action heavy (“video game-esque” in her own words) the sequences became. She even commented on the cinematography and change in Caitlyn’s costume design and general re-texturing of character faces (aka more make-up/contour on women’s faces). It literally took her just a single episode to spot all of that, and she absolutely hated it. The police raid scene was the last straw for her and she decided she was no longer interested. Bless her, really.

Arcane S2 is basically going to the same restaurant you went last year to find that they fired their chef and are trying to make out his dishes by looking at the invoices

Also I think that Riot going from "Hey, this show isn't strictly canon, but it has our characters and world in it check it out" to "HOLY SHIT, THIS IS SO POPULAR, WE'RE RETCONNING OUR GAME FOR THIS TO BE CANON AND MAKING SKINS <b>NOW"</b> was what killed the show, since it forced the writers to play by game rules and turn it into an ad.<br><br>And by the way... this is the third time Riot has retconned their game's lore and they never even finished the <i>first</i> retcon sooooooo just a huge loss overall.

Youre borderline convincing me that season 2 was a government psyop (joke).<br><br>"The poors cant get this idea in their head that they need power to change things, heavens no, lets have the lesson be about forgiveness and civility."<br><br>Since, famously in history, you can always just forgive and civilize your way out of oppression.

Vander's BODY should have been revived and used as a monster. I thought they were going to have him be just a mindless monster and used to hurt Jinx and Vi and maybe turn them on each other more, but Vander as a person should have stayed dead.

“so they can all team up against the REAL villain: a disabled gay scientist” that actually sent me lmao. <br>This video really puts into words all the vague dissatisfaction I felt with s2… I knew something was off when I kept getting bored and looking at my phone. S1 was way too captivating for that
