You are right about splicing the power supply to the dac giving benefits to the performance. <br>I've done this to several players with tda1541. But also to "newer" bitstream philips and marantz players. I also spliced the 5v rails to the decoder chip, and seperated that from the servo/logic from the player. Also replacing the output bufferstage electrolitics to film has great sonic benefits.<br>The biggest improvement however came from reclocking the decoder and dac with a separate clock and power supply.<br><br>Love this channel, Cheers from the Netherlands.

Had a Sony with tda I got at thrift store for 5.99 powered on so I bought. Put disk in skipped easy for small scratches. Opened it up turned up laser power and all was well. <br>Sounded better than anything I ever heard.<br>Then the plastic in the drive mechanism degraded falling apart could not fix. <br>So now the chips are in a separate dac.<br>The years since the Sony was released until now went by very fast. <br>If you are young save your gear no telling what be desirable or why the world will certainly burn and it's nice to have a few original of life's items of enjoyment
