  I smoked for 25 years and never  had health problems but I still paid the price. When I quit smoking I got fat. I gained 140 pounds. I developed sleep apnea and diabetes and all the problems with being obese. diets and exercise made no difference

  The cigarette commercials I remember are the "Happiness is the taste of Kent", the L & M commercials where the people never finish their cigarettes, the KOOL commercials where the man says "I've had it with this cigarette", and the Newport commercial where the billboard comes alive and the woman sings the Newport jingle.  But the best cigarette commercial was the one where Johnny Mathis throws the pack away and sings "Anyone can do without you".

  this is why all of us children in the 1950&apos;s got hooked on cigarettes...we were young, trusting, and believed every word grown-ups told and showed us...we were brainwashed with ads that told us blowing smoke was enjoyable pleasure and fun...tens of millions of baby boomers died horrible deaths from lung cancer...my dad died at the age of 51 from smoking 9 cartons of Marlboro cigarettes a week......

  I remember when Jack Webb &nbsp;advertised Chesterfield Cigarettes, touting supposed medical data saying it&apos;s the &quot;safest cigarette you can smoke&quot; <br><br>In 1982, right before Christmas, Jack Webb passed away &nbsp;at 62 due to massive heart failure.
