  I am a fashion journalist and literally wrote so many essays about Sex and the City fashion. Here’s a fun fact for you Mike because I know you love those. During the first season of Sex and the City any designer clothing that is shown is fake because brands weren’t willing to lend out their clothes yet for the show because they didn’t know how big it was going to be. I believe the only brand that did this was Manolo Blahnik which is why they become a staple of the show in the end. During season two onwards they’re able to use actual designer brands but pretty much everything from season one is fake and some things going forward are fake as well.

  SATC was an HBO original so they were allowed to do, discuss, and film things that cable network shows (such as Friends) were not. I think that allowance is what gives the series a 90s-transcendent quality. It definitely feels old, but not so 90s that it’s dusty. It definitely ages well because it’s realer, due to the different standards for shows on premium vs cable networks

  i remember reading somewhere that the girls each symbolize an aspect of womanhood (professional career, sex, family/ marriage) and carrie&apos;s search for them while Mr. Big symbolizes the city, as in the BIG apple, and the reason Carrie&apos;s so obsessed with being chosen by him is because she is obssesed with being accepted by THE big city. <br><br>also we don&apos;t know Big&apos;s first name until very late in the series bc he&apos;s THAT unreachable. <br><br>pd. great video, loved your comments, cant wait for u to watch the rest of the show

  Funny you should say Charlotte is the one who&apos;d go for someone like Big, because she&apos;s sort of famously his type, but basically looks at him as a not very desirable version of her own type (already older, twice divorced, etc.) It was always interesting to me how the dynamic worked
