  其實唔關教學事<br>係香港係唔洗用英文<br>最多係同工人姐姐講<br>新加坡就周圍都唔同種族<br>成日可以用到<br>語言係溝通工具 唔用嚟溝通真係學完都會畀返老師

  The real test of proficiency was in the explanations. Singaporeans explained concepts or thoughts in English while Hong Kongers explained in Cantonese .

  Correction at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMYc604AzMA&amp;t=110">1:50</a><br><br>Malaysia = a country, next to Singapore <br>Malay = a race, usually the native language is Bahasa Melayu

  As a Hong Konger who studied in Singapore for 6 years of Primary education and 5 years of Secondary education in Hong Kong, I can confirm there’s a huge difference in terms of competence 🫠🙈<br><br>But there’s no point comparing the two because the environment themselves are different.

  I&apos;m Singaporean. I believe languages are closely tied with our daily lives. In Singapore, because of our unique multiracial society, English is our common language. Even the elderly will understand some English words though some may be uneducated or have had very little education or are mainly Chinese/Malay/Tamil educated.<br>Before the present education system was introduced- mastering English as the First Language (and also as the medium of instruction from kindergartens to universities, except during mother tongue classes)<br>and mastering one&apos;s ethnic mother tongue as the Second Language, the various ethnic groups mostly used their own ethnic mother tongues in schools with English as a first or second language.<br>And once English is decided as the medium for instruction for schools and all official matters, it&apos;s not a matter of choice but necessity that we&apos;ve to master English. If you want to do well in your studies, the first thing you&apos;ve to do is to master English. That&apos;s why parents start speaking English to their children since young.<br>It&apos;s a NEED, not a want.

  我想重申一點。只有英文唔好嘅人先會笑人英文唔好。亦只有日常唔太會講英文嘅人會笑人英文嘅口音。
