Sweetness was the most complete running back I have ever seen. He had great speed, acceleration, power and balance. He also was one of the best I have ever seen at setting up his blocks. He was an elite blocker and elite receiver. On top of that he could throw the ball, throwing for 8 tds in his career. He also averaged 31.7 yards per kick return for his career. But he was too valuable as a running back so he stopped returning kicks. He even punted once.

You've just witnessed Sweetness. The greatest running-back I have ever seen. And one the most humble athletes you will ever meet. He's the one that said "When you're good at something, you'll tell everyone. When you're great at something, they'll tell you." #GOAT

Walter was the best. He would carry the ball 30+ times a game. Everyone in the stadium knew who was getting the ball. Still couldn't stop him. His will and desire was uncomprable

Walter is the greatest to ever step on the gridiron. Not including QBs. Put them in a separate category.

He missed just one game in his 13 year career. Once as a ROOKIE, and ghe coaches kept him out lol.

The late Walter J Payton is the best NCAA football player I ever saw, and the best NFL player I ever saw. Best RB ever. For four years at Jackson St., he was also kicker/punter.!! He scored more points in a single season, touchdowns, field goals, extra points than any player in College football history. The Man.

I am from Chicago, and for my generation Walter Peyton is revered as much as Jordan. The greatest.

Walter Payton was my hero as a kid and the sole reason why I ever got interested in all sports (not just football)!! I cried like a little bitch when he passed away!! He's the greatest RB in NFL history I don't care what anyone says!!! You guys should react to the 1985 Chicago Bears who only had 10 points scored on them throughout the Playoffs and Superbowl!! All 10 of those points came in the SuperBowl!! They blanked the entire NFC teams in the playoffs!! #DaBears
