  The reason you can&apos;t switch to iGPU / GPU mode is your ASUS uses Nvidia Advanced Optimus on Windows. This feature is not available (because Nvidia) on Linux so it falls back to regular Optimus, which requires a restart. I have an older Lenovo Legion and have to do a full reboot to switch GPU modes, regardless if I&apos;m on Windows or Linux.

  With any operating system, first thing to do after first boot is to run a full system update. Can help avoid a lot of issues.

  The reason all the help goes through the terminal is because those UI options you were able to access is specific to KDE and would be different on other linux desktops. The terminal is the most unifying feature of many linux distros, and even then that has many variations.

  I switched over 2 years ago - I&apos;m happy on cachy. I have found supported software or better alternatives for all my needs. Gaming mostly just works. <br>I think for your first attempt, you did great. The one thing I noticed is Expedition 33 was probably chugging because you skipped the shader pre-compilation - so it was doing it on the fly every time it needed it, grinding the game to a halt.<br>Other than that, I think your first foray into the linux world was representative for your use cases. <br>One thing that&apos;s a constant with content creators who try to take the plunge: their particular software choice doesn&apos;t work on Linux because it&apos;s not supported by it&apos;s developers. Yes, that&apos;s how it is and that&apos;s how it&apos;s going to stay unless more people adopt Linux.<br>I think the choice right now is whether to keep getting microshafted perpetually but have your software working or take the pain of switching as an investment into a hopefully better future. Personally I genuinely enjoy Linux more despite it&apos;s remaining issues.

  I think most help is in the terminal because everyone has a terminal. GUI options depends on which desktop environment you use and sometimes which distro you use

  Losing about 20% of performance is pretty accurate when using an Nvidia GPU. Nvidia&apos;s drivers aren&apos;t that great overall. I&apos;d be interested in seeing your take using AMD hardware sometime in the future. I enjoyed the video.
