  But as an Asian man growing up in Asia, I find the dating culture in North America might be more stressful as if you have to pass many tests before getting into an "official relationship", and if you screw one up, you're done. I think it would be much more relaxing if you've already known some, if not all, basics of your date beforehand, so there will be less awkwardness on the first date (for example, if both parties are a bit nervous and not very talkative, etc. You know, Asian culture is more reserved comparing to the West); not even mentioning the confusing relationship "terms", ghosting culture and social norms in North America.....

  Very true experiences from Mike. The first two dates in Asia are mainly a verification process of the partner's confessions  done in social media courtship. These dates are also done to confirm the physical attraction that was earlier perceived. If there were positive results, then usually a few more dates would lead to the “final” goal.

  Old upload, so anyone that stumbles upon this, take my opinion with a grain of salt.<br><br>I&apos;m an xpat, living in Tokyo, married to a mainlander. Though I think you two did a great job eloquently articulating the reality of multicultural dating, none of this is really applicable in my experience. Mike seems as if he has spent a great deal of time in the West; so much I wouldn&apos;t have guessed he&apos;s Asian. Though he&apos;s obviously genetically Asian, I would have guessed he is a Chinese American. Mainlanders; Chinese living in, or from Asia, are monumentally different from Western Asians! &nbsp;So much so none of the Asians I have spoken to on this topic, perceive Western raised Asians as &quot;real Asians.&quot; My wife is very vocal on this topic actually. Mike&apos;s accent is fantastic, the way in which he speaks, his grammar, logic seems that of a Westerner. Mainlanders, meh... Very, very different.<br><br>A date is a date, it&apos;s universal, similar to intimacy. Dating someone is much more nuanced and culturally complicated. I can confidently say it&apos;s nearly impossible for a Westerner to have a successful relationship with a Mainlander who has a strong Western influence, and is a literal impossibility for a Westerner to date a Mainlander who has spent little or zero time in the West. In order to have a successful relationship, you need a strong understanding on the concept of <b>High vs Low Context Culture.</b> This is a topic I&apos;ve never seen discussed, is something that extends far beyond the implications of communication, and has more to do with logic, perception, the way in which we perceive the world. It is seriously like Asians and Westerners aren&apos;t just different cultures, we&apos;re a different species. The way in which my mind works, is inexplicably different from that of my wife. If not for us being a bit older, and more patient, there&apos;s no way we could have had a successful relationship. Unsure if you&apos;re still creating content, if so you should consider an upload on the topic.<br><br>Ultimately guys, stick to women from your own culture. I was only meant to be working in Tokyo for a few years, and never assumed I would have met my wife. It is nearly impossible, and though I&apos;m doubtful anyone will stumble across this comment, if you&apos;re interested I can extrapolate. These two are the exception. Don&apos;t expect this will be you!

  Although you are both generally correct, I think there are exceptions depending on the subculture or particular situation in America. &nbsp;For example, I dated a Jewish girl and it was similar to the &quot;Asian dating&quot; process essentially taking it slow. &nbsp;Also, if the relationship started off as a &quot;hook up&quot; which then evolves into a serious relationship. &nbsp;So I think it depends...
