  The number one reason I have only brought NARS like twice before is the price. It is far too expensive for what it’s offering. Back in the height of their popularity, high end makeup felt luxurious; but now more affordable brands can now offer even better quality.

  Makeup brands saying they want to expand their creative and artistic vision to China always makes me laugh,like we don’t all know they’re in it for the money.

  I worked for nars for over 3 years in London. Just a backstory. In 2014 , a makeup artist used a nars lipstick on a South Korean actress for the most watch Chinese sitcom. This lipstick was out of stock for 2 years GLOBALLY. We had waiting lists for this lipstick with 300 names . Insane. This was totally crazy. They saw the power of the Chinese market.

  Despite me not buying from the brand for years, NARS remains one of my favorite brands mainly because they were one of the first and only brands at sephora(like makeup forever and bobbi brown) that carried darker than beige makeup. I remember their nude is not beige campaigns which was something I appreciated as a teen because my nakedness is literally not beige LOL. I think NARS is a dependable department store brand that is probably safe like Clinque, Lancome and Estee Lauder and all the other not hip brands that younger people love nowadays.

  Gosh, I haven’t seen Alex Wek in such a long time. She helped me feel beautiful as a Black little girl. Her beauty truly is ethereal ❤.

  The only thing i like from nars js the fact they are the very few brands that carry a red blush that isnt a pink

  Another reason i think the brand is flopping is because of the current reformulations of almost all the products.. for example the original orgasm blush that made them famous in the first place. it used to be a beautiful colour but they have reformulated it in the past year to a talc free formulation and it&apos;s completely different now. its actually super frustrating.

  NARS is going through a reformulation of their powder based items because they contain talc and mica. You can find a lot of their blushes, clear translucent powder, powder foundation and matte lipstick at TJMAXX and Marshalls. But oddly not their eyeshadow. It could also be Ulta and Sephora unloading displays too. <br><br>They should get rid of that darned rubbery plastic casing material cause it’s hard to keep clean and cracks apart.

  I just found two old Nars blushes today. I reached for them wondering why I threw them in a drawer. Was instantly reminded when I touched them because the packaging was sticky and gummy. I never understood why all the packaging turns gross. The lipsticks turn fast too.<br><br>That and the staleness of the brand (so many Orgasm releases!) might also have something to do with its decline. High end lines shouldn’t have subpar packaging.

  First of all…ALEK WEK!!! Anyways, NARS was my very first makeup purchase. I got the multiple stick in South Beach. It gave me the confidence to play with makeup as a Black man in his late 20s. I got so many compliments from other Black men, even straight ones. NARS will always be a part of my beauty story. Now I’m a beauty editor. Amen.
