UHC when he can’t think of something else a monster eats: so there’s all these crabs in the jungle right?

For Garangolm, I feel the arm power up gimmick should have been tied to environment. In wetter areas, it should have had water, in colder areas it should have had snow, near the castle it could have blast from buried gunpowder, stone in rocky areas, and so on. This would have better emphasized Garangolm as a “steward of the landscape”.

As is, it’s just weird seeing Garangolm always get water moss on one arm and blast on the other no matter where it sticks its arms in the ground. The concept of the monster is that it’s attacking with materials from the environment, but the environment doesn’t actually matter when it’s always the same.

I like how Garangolm uses blast and water as an allusion to one story of the creation of a Golem.

Really, Garangolm utilizes all four classical elements; Air (steam), Water, Fire (blast), and Earth (the giant rocks it brings up).

According to this story, all four elements are required to create a Golem (the Jewish version).

You questioned, when discussing possible prey options for Lunagaron, the possible presence of pinniped-like creatures in the sea and I seem to recall in... Generations, I think, seeing walrus-like critters on the frozen map. Some Googling tells me that in Frontier there was also a large mammalian leviathan which took inspiration from walrus's and seals.

Lunagardon is super obviously a wolf, but he’s always had very rat-and raccoon-like qualities to me. His face shape is similar to the former and the fact he holds you in his pin says a lot.

I really liked these two. Odo and Lunagaron are some of my favorite designs and I like them better as wolf monsters than Zinogre. Garangolm is cool and probably my favorite fanged beast but I wish it was a bit more threatening to both the player and other monsters.

Glad I'm not the only one that thought Garangolm had only like 4 attacks it ever used

One thing i'll say i really like about Garangolm is his roar, i really like how unique is sounds, there is something oddly primal and viceral about it

I really wish Garangolm was stronger. I don’t know what’s Capcom obsession for downplaying the size advantage of monsters but he would be pretty good if his strength was shown more (and of his fight was streamlined a bit more). His turf war with Lunagaron irks me to my core

With lunagaron, I imagine the large tail is for balance when it stands on its hind legs. Along with the mh team wanting the 3 lords to have tri tipped tails.

Edit: oh, also. Luna being in the jungle bothers me. It's a strong blue and idk how it doesn't get picked off or any pray can escape it. Which is sad cause I want to see a greater diversity of ice monsters in environments outside the ice zones.

I always thought the inspiration for the Sunbreak crew from common horror monsters were interesting. I’m just wondering if other monsters could be adapted well in future MH games
