Even as a huge Beatles fan i have to say, that Freddie Mercury was probably the greatest frontman ever. I still remember in 1975, hearing Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time, it didn`t sound like anything we had heard before, fantastic creativity.

The movie "Highlander" was for me a sort of comeback (to me) for Queen. This is an emotional song which expresses the theme of the movie.

I do love the live version but the official video also shows off Brian May singing the first verse and he has the voice of an angel. It features a boy's choir and an orchestra. Well worth a watch because he rarely sang the verse in live performances. Brian wrote this for the movie Highlander and the scene where it plays is heartbreaking.

Highlander movie theme song. Saddly , five years on Freddy passed. But, still lives in our memory and hearts.

Every time I hear queen, I’m reminded I came to recognize their brilliance late in life, proving you CAN teach old dog new tricks. Excellent reaction.

A great song for a movie I never stopped loving over the decades.

From a lyrical perspective: without giving away too much, the movie revolves around a few immortal men. The main character at one point experiences the pain of losing the love of his life due to old age, while knowing he might live on forever. "Who wants to live forever, when love must die".

Queen had three singers: Freddie, Brian (guitarist), and Roger (drummer), and they took full advantage of this both in the studio and on stage. The only time they used a pre-recorded track was when they performed “Bohemian Rhapsody,” because the opera section couldn’t be played live. But they all left the stage during that part because they wanted to show the audience that it was coming from the record. Everything else Queen did on stage was completely live, without any gimmicks.

This song is from the album A Kind of Magic, the band's twelfth studio album. The album enjoys the status of an unofficial soundtrack for the 1986 film Highlander, for which no official soundtrack album was released. Six out of nine songs on the album appeared in the film, although in different versions.

Who Wants To Live Forever written by Brian May. In the 1986 film Highlander, starring Christopher Lambert, the song is used to frame the scenes in the film where Connor MacLeod must endure his beloved wife Heather MacLeod growing old and dying while he, an Immortal, remains forever young. Brian wrote the song in the backseat of his car after seeing a 20-minute first cut of the scene of Heather's death.

The music video version featured the National Philharmonic Orchestra with forty choirboys and several hundreds of candles which remain lit throughout filming as well as Mercury wearing a tuxedo suit.

What I think the ladies didn't notice was that although the chord structure and sound of the organ was a little bit, " haunting ".....it contained the big depth of solemn feeling because it is based on a church hymn style. It is absolutely a church organ mode of playing and sound Brian was using so that gives the song the deepest, as I said, SOLEMN quality.
