I always took the "one eye sees the past" line to be about a sort of PTSD. It's a constant reminder of his failings. Also, his fake eye might not be cybernetic, just a false eye, and in that constant darkness maybe he's constantly reliving moments of regret or pain.

Matthas was talking about how much anime is coming out all the time. The crazy part is more anime has come out after 2010 than every year before it combined

Cowboy Bebop was the coolest shit around back then and still kinda is.
That kind of fusion of western animation and anime, at least thats what it feels like.
That totally unusual story you'd only read in unknown sci fi books.

And it kind of doesnt matter if youre a huge fan of anime or not, if you know and love Cowboy Bebop you ALWAYS had an 'in' with big anime fans :D

I used to watch ALL the weird anime back in the day on late night TV. (That was the channel VOX for all my germans).
Things like Cowboy Bebop, the grand GOLDEN BOY and i think even Sumurai Shamploo?
That swung the door wide open for anime to me. I dont watch many of them, but the ones i watch i absolute LOVE.

My favorite anime AND show of all time has got to be Shokugeki no Soma, Food Wars.
The fact that they dont even need the usual antagonist and create this FEELING of competition, yet everyone is in it together is amazing.
Only later on they introduce a typical antagonist and even that is done very well.
And the whole idea of being able to ENJOY obstacles in life and growing because of them is probably THE most inspiring story ever.

Would love to see that topic on the pod :D

My one critique is that I hope you guys try not to let your expectations get too much in the way of enjoying a series for what it is.

That aside I'm already loving the chemistry between you three. There was a lot of fun conversation. Really looking forward to seeing more.

As a fan of animation in the 2000s and into the 2010’s I absolutely appreciate when a show is episodic. When you have a cast of characters with strong personalities you can put them in pretty much any situation without it ever feeling stale. I also love that while it is plot relevant most of the time, the fact that this is a sci-do setting comes second to the stories being told. I’m very much not a fan of space epics or shit about galactic federations or space lore, so Bebop is set the standard for what I love in terms of sci-fi.

Aw! Ya skipped over the craziest moment. Ed's dad SOUNDLY defeated Spike without effort. Like, Spike's this untouchable badass the entire show, and Ed's dad just hardcounters him, casually. And Spike wasn't holding back, he didn't know who this guy was yet or anything.

I recently got to see Bebop Bounty Big Band play a bunch of the music from the show live on stage accompanied by visuals from the show, and I have to say, it was the coolest goddamn live music experience I've ever had and made me fall in love with the show and the music all over again.
