  Gen z here. Happily married with kids. Never had any issues as I spent my 20s building my career so that now I can provide my wife with her rights so that she can live her own life in her space without in-laws being in her business all the time. Alhamdulillah.

  Linguistically, qawwam means authority or someone one in charge of someone. The Quranic commentators (الْمُفَسِّرونَ) have interpreted &nbsp;the word qawwam as follows: <br>1. Defending and protecting women. <br>2. Financially supporting women. <br>3. Encouraging them to perform their duties. <br>4. Discouraging them from haram or harmful. <br>5. Teaching, training, educating, and disciplining. <br>Note: The above must be done lovingly, respectfully, mercifully, and patiently while avoiding harsh, abusive, egotistical, arrogant, and tyrannical behaviors. <br> <br>تَفْسيرُ الطبري: الرجال أهل قيام على نسائهم، في تأديبهن والأخذ على أيديهن فيما يجب عليهن لله ولأنفسهم.<br> &nbsp;تَفْسيرُ القرطبي: يَقُومُونَ بِالنَّفَقَةِ عَلَيْهِنَّ وَالذَّبِّ عَنْهُنَّ.<br> تَفْسيرُ البغوي: القوَّامُ: .. هو الْقَائِمُ بِالْمَصَالِحِ وَالتَّدْبِيرِ وَالتَّأْدِيبِ.

  We frequently hear about the wife complaining about her mother-in-law. &nbsp;We also frequently hear about mothers-in-law complain about daughters-in-law. &nbsp;Why do they always have problems? Why do they hate each other? Interestingly, how come we never hear about the husband complain about his father-in-law and vice versa? &nbsp;What does this show?
