When professionals make you understand why they're professionals.

What he says makes sense. I hooped almost 7 days a week for over 20 years (Tournaments, city rec leagues, mostly streetball at parks). Never once had a major injury, while all my friends did. But I DID used to work hard physical labor jobs too - home construction, roofing, framing, loading trucks at a warehouse, etc. I guess that was my "cross-training" to balance my body out?🤷‍♂️

Same thing with Robert Parish. He did core work a yoga and played until he was 43. Only had ankle injuries in his career.

I can't believe Scott is this good. All the coaches turned Analyst / Entertainer guys I've seen take up the air in the room. Byron Scott is willing to let guys talk abiut what they know. He can direct and control where he wants a conversation to go, but he lets the subject give their expert opinions. Rare for an ex-coach!

Tim Groover was counting number of steps Jordan was doing during games/practices to adapt the training to compensate .. Genius

I tried to run full court in my mid-30's after taking 10 years off. My core strength was so weak, that I couldn't even take the ball full court on the break, because I was working So Hard just to keep my body upright. Core is Everything.

This is excellent...I wrote to Vitti many years ago about becoming a trainer.  I was surprised he responded,  but very appreciative. Thanks

This is really good breakdown and highlights the importance of strengthening the core.

This is why footwork is important. I've played basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, ran track. Martial arts taught me how to fall. As a long time dancer (freestyle, modern,) I've never got hurt. But when you play in the outfield you can misjudge a ball. That sudden change of direction caused me to pull my hamstring. This video is a win win for me. It's a user friendly breakdown from a man that worked for my favorite team.      Lakers for life!

Playing tag as children was also a very underrated way to train accel/decel and change of direction.  Hardly ever hear kids playing it nowadays, and my own kids surprised me by saying their school banned playing tag at recess.

I grew up in the 70s, I am in excellent shape, according to my doctor at 68 years old. Gary made a great point about kids who played different sports were actually cross training. I played all sports, I wasn’t great at any, but I always competed. I experienced core endurance and wasn’t even aware of it⚾️🏈🏀
