"I feel like my brain is getting a massage" is about the coolest compliment a band can get! Nice react!

Just a suggestion, this is an album that you should listen to without stopping. The transitions are amazing if you just let it play through

25 year-old Clare Torry, who provided the wordless vocals for Pink Floyd’s “The Great Gig in the Sky” from their iconic album Dark Side of the Moon, completed her recording session in two and a half takes. She was paid £30 for her performance. <br>She said in 1998, "If I'd known then what I know now, I would have done something about organising copyright or publishing." <br>In 2005, an out-of-court settlement was reached in Torry's favour, although the terms of the settlement were not disclosed. <br>All releases after 2005 carry an additional credit for "Vocal composition by Clare Torry" in the "Great Gig in the Sky" segment of the booklet or liner notes. <br>"They simply said, 'Who shall we get to sing this?' And I said, 'Well, I know a great singer.' I just knew her through one album of hit cover versions she'd done – you know, the cover albums that proliferated in the early 1970s. They were always done in a day. And I was very impressed with her. There was a bit of direction given: they said, 'Sorry, we've got no words, no melody line, just a chord sequence – just see what you can do with it.' She was only there for a couple of hours. As I remember, she did two or three tracks, from which we assembled the best bits for a master version. But somewhere in the archives are the bits we didn't use, and I'm sure it would make for an interesting remix version one day." – Alan Parsons

You're right, this album is meant to be listened to without stopping, although when it was released in 1973 it was on a vinyl LP and therefore two sides, side 2 starting with "Money". The reflecting on the lyrics is an important part of the experience as DSOTM is a reflection of some big issues of life - like death (Great Gig in the Sky), war and human conflict (Us and Them). We used to party a lot in 1973 and this album was thrashed to death, happily after a break of a few decades the magic has returned. Many times named as the greatest recording ever, it was in the charts continually for over 17 years.

I was 14 and living of course with my parents in Garland, Texas. One day my older brother came by and handed me this black album with a prism on it. He told me to listen to it <br>I took it to my room and closed my fake polar bear curtains, turned my HiFi Yamaha stereo phonograph, shut the lights off and mood lights on. The stylus dropped as I put my Pioneer headphones on (I still have them).<br>A couple of hours later I showed up at his front door on foot. He lived in an older neighborhood a half mile away. I handed him the album back and he said, "No, no. You can keep it to listen to for a few weeks."<br>"I have already bought one for myself," I told him.<br>It changed my life. I found a way to wind down from the crazy reality of being a teen.<br>Thank You Big Brother<br>James Roscoe

I saw a post worth repeating. "You don't need drugs to get the best out of PF. You need PF to get the best out of your drugs".

As a whole, this is the best album ever produced, by far

Syd Barrett, the band's creative leader, came up with a new name by merging the names of two blues musicians he admired: Pink Anderson and Floyd Counci

Well, next albums are "Wish You Were Here", "Animals", and finally "The Wall", and while you're at it, you can throw "Meddle" in there. All outstanding albums!! You're subscribers will shoot up if you do all those albums. We love watching younger people fall in love with this band.
