  Greg Do you not get orange dog berries in BC? They grow in bunches on a tall tree, taste bitter and sour but by God they make an amazing dogberry wine

  How true about the moss. I am from Siberia, and as a child I noticed that you can&apos;t navigate by the moss on a tree. You will simply get lost. As for all sorts of plants, mushrooms and berries, we have one rule: &quot;if you don&apos;t know, don&apos;t take it.&quot; Every time during the mushroom season I refresh my knowledge. Although I know many more edible types of mushrooms than I collect, I don&apos;t tempt fate.

  I remember an old farmer warning me that it&apos;s NOT true that you can eat anything that a squirrel can eat. Your bird-version reminded me of that.
