  No matter the place or what people say, a woman is strong and self-sufficient if she chooses to be and fights for it; she can live alone and be perfectly happy in her own company better to be alone than in bad company and she should never tolerate mistreatment or humiliation, for she is a human being who deserves respect and safety. That is why my grandmother used to say that, if necessary, you should move to another country to be who you truly are and distance yourself from toxic family members and she was right.

  You need an emotionally secure and intelligent man who is solid and secure within himself and not pandering to society's shallowness. Do you feel your birthmark has a role in the type of men you attract? Marriage is a choice not a deadline is so correct.    💙💙

  Thank you for speaking on this to important topic. I am from the South American Latino culture and raised in the USA. Married young due to cultural pressure. Found the strength to divorce (too many years later 😔) but did it despite the negativity. Turned out fine, never remarried as my choice, continued to work, raised my kids who are both college grads and will retire soon🎉. I loved when you said that you, as today’s woman , has choice!  You are no leftover woman and grandma will be ok as she see’s your success grow!

  Marry when you find the right person. There is nothing wrong with going on a few casual dates. You might meet someone interesting! If you don’t like them, don’t continue dating them. I met my husband online, went on a coffee date with him and we talked for 3 hours. The rest is history. He is my greatest support, my best friend and I am so happy I went ahead and met him. all I’m saying is, do not be pressured to marry anyone, but it’s okay to meet people and see if they can be a good match.   Sasa, it's not you, its the system your stuck in. It's way too strict and judgmental . There is no romance involved . You think more like women in the west . When searching for a husband, love and romance should be at the top of your list. A man and wife will work together to solve all the minor problems. Trust me, if you dont have a love for each other, you will regret it the rest of your life. One of the best feelings is to wake up with someone you love and then can't wait to come home and see them. I'm old fashioned , a romantic.

  Thank you Sasa for such a candid response to the pressures from family.  I think even in the US families from rural areas tend to marry earlier than urban areas but it seems the pressure is more intense in China.  Live your life and enjoy it as much as you can.  Seems like the women carry so much of the family and household burden. Also, where are all the 30 year old men who are single?
