Never heard of this pianist until recently and now I'll never forget him.

I've spent the last half century of my life with paints and brushes, engaging with some of the most beautiful places on the planet (Himalayas, Europe, Japan, Central Asia, South Pacific, South America, the American Southwest, etc.), living and depicting the most beautiful moments in those places. The only thing that can make me regret not having spent my life otherwise is listening to classical music. Bach of course, first and foremost, but also the other European Classical masters, and I also have to eclectically include classical Indian music, classical jazz, classical didgeridoo, classical koto and shakuhachi, etc. You get the idea. But Bach does stand alone, his music architectonic masterpieces of the mind and soul. God I wish I could play it! You never see something really until you stop and paint it - the steady accumulation of observation interspersed with gestures of emotion - and you probably can never really know this music unless you can play it and hear it whole with all its parts. I started piano at 57 and have managed a few of the two part inventions, so I can sense the wonders that lay beyond. Maybe in the next lifetime . . . meanwhile sincere appreciation and admiration to those who can, and who share it with us!

Yuan Sheng is arguably the best piano Bach interpreter appeared during the last two decades. His sound is convincing, crystalline, melodious. His sense of tempo is perfect. The architecture of the music emerges clean, transparent, beauteous. He builds a musical world deeply embedded in the musical world of Bach. His intellectual perception of Bach music is impressive, he may be categorized as a scholar, as his understanding of the music goes beyond the merely sensual. He approaches the musical miracle with straightforwardness and simplicity, letting the miracle happen just from the playing of the notes. No artifice, no nonsense, just the music. Thanks Piano Classics for allowing us mortals to enjoy a glimpse at the inside world of Bach.

Bach’s music is a call to God to remain silent. <br>and will quench and moisturize the dryness of the soul of busy modern people

The Saranbade repetition with the ornaments was so beautiful, never heard it like that. Previous interpretations look plain in comparison. This one feels like beautiful cursif font we find in those handicrafted wedding invitations. A marvel.

Inizi l'ascolto disattento, poi il genio razionale di Bach attraverso la magica e dolce precisione di Yuan Sheng ti richiamano l'attenzione, e rimani assorto col pensiero in tutto questo...

Thank you Yuan Sheng. Your playing is divine. I could, and have, listened to these partitas everyday for a month now. They accompany all the moods of the day.

This pianist is amazing; he plays like he was on a harpsichord and this makes the sound like it was never done before. Bravo Mr. Yuen !

There is exquisite beauty in Bach's works but I am reminded of how our brains work on patterns and this music is full of wonderful patterns. I admit to knowing little of music but we all feel things and thank you, our brains, and bach's cleverness.
