  &quot;practice non-attachment&quot; - lol my mother was practising that from the moment I was born. That&apos;s why we&apos;re estranged. Probably true for most of these parents.

  Holy crow. As a therapist, I am in awe of just how bad Diane&apos;s advice here is. I mean, she&apos;s absolutely taken many first-rate pieces of advice from many different practices, but then she&apos;s put them into a blender until their chemical reaction produces toxic fumes. She&apos;s including NONE of the usual safeguards or pacing methods that would make these techniques effective and less likely to make problems worse.

  I&apos;ve said it before, but Diane does not regret losing her daughter, nor does she miss her daughter. She misses her control, she regrets that she did not do more to maintain control. <br><br>I imagine her daughter is a very strong minded individual, to have broken away from someone like this. Imagine growing up thinking this control is normal, but then being open minded enough to recognize the pattern, and actually make the right decision. <br>I admire her, no matter who she is.

  I find her &quot;you have to accept the truth that your kids just don&apos;t care about you enough to keep in contact&quot; very telling as an estranged child.<br><br>What I hear most often from people like me as a hard truth is &quot;you have to accept your parents&apos;s love and appreciation of you is closer to that of a kitchen appliance than a person, and it&apos;s ok to not invest in people who only love you for how you serve their needs.&quot;

  I was just perusing her comments section to see how many people call her out vs enable her, and someone asked her if she would do anything differently if she could use what she knows now and go back in time with regards to how she treated her daughter She answered that she would have home-schooled her and not &quot;allowed&quot; her to go to college. This woman is unreal.

  “Accept that the relationship is over”??? &nbsp;WTF? &nbsp;I could never accept that about one of my children! &nbsp;If either of my adult daughters stopped talking to me I’d be doing whatever it took to change and to fix whatever went wrong! &nbsp;This woman is insufferable.

  She thinks she is an expert. Her children, in no uncertain terms, let her know that she was a terrible terrible parent. So bad that she is unsuitable to remain in their lives. And she is profess to have answers for other parents? This is absolutely ridiculous. I feel very sad for anybody who gets sucked into her nonsense.
