I use to make dolls similar to this, but nowhere as beautiful as these. Unfortunately, my hands have become shaky so I can't do the detailed work anymore. It was a privilege to see this.

The first festival a girl celebrates after she is born is called the ``first festival.''
It is a traditional custom for girls to decorate Hina dolls during the Peach Festival on March 3rd to pray for their healthy growth and happiness in Japan.
Hina dolls are beautiful.

My mother came to the US in 1958, bringing a couple of dolls. I still have them. Thank you!

Thank you for such a informative video. As a modern doll maker that recreates European fashion dolls and researches the history, am in awe of the process.

All the artisans should be proud of their custom Japanese fashion dolls. A credit to their beautiful culture, also a testament to high quality traditional craftsmanship.

Cheers from New Orleans! I make dolls out of discarded textiles, beads and jewelry. Though my work is nowhere near as fine as this Japanese Hina artisan, I love watching someone at work, doing what I love - making dolls!!! Exquisite..
