As an artist thanks for endorsing not buying their generic wall art. People need to make connections to local artists. Go to fairs and outdoor shows. Lots of art is not in fact hugely expensive. It’s so important to support your local artists who are making work and selling it for far less than it’s worth.

I agree with most of your statements but not with all.
- Sanela curtains are made from 100% cotton velvet. There's nothing 'plasticy' about them.
- The Fado table lamp is the most flimsiest lamp ever. Because the glass is so thin there's no weight to this lamp that would keep it sitting firmly on the table or shelf. With cats or kids I find this quite dangerous. Original globe lamps from decent stores are made from thick glass and are quite heavy.

May I add some tips?
IKEA often has beautiful hanging lamps. Changing IKEA's plastic cables and plastic ceiling canopies to fabric cables and good quality metal canopies from other sources can drastically enhance the look.

I recommend always reading the product reviews before buying an IKEA item. In all languages. I always start with the bad ones and decide if I can cope with the fault mentioned. It's especially quite interesting to read comments from people who had bought a product many years ago and now have bought another one. The decline in quality often is mind-boggling.

If you're not living too far from the border, it's worth checking online a neighbouring countries' IKEA. Prices sometimes vary significantly and there can be differences with the size of beds and bedding.

I love this video, bc Ikea is big almost overwhelming when I first went there. Lighting is something that does make such a difference in a room, it's so good to hear your perspective thank you!!

Not to nitpick this informative video, but I couldn’t help but notice the short curtains at the 9:40 mark. Short curtains break up the wall and make the room feel smaller, while floor-length ones create a more continuous look that makes the space feel taller and more cohesive.

I loved your part 1 so I’m happy you uploaded another one! In my country, Ikea is actually considered quite expensive (overpriced for the quality in fact) so we don’t view an ikea home as generic or cheap. Funny how different things are huh?

I’m glad you mentioned cleaning in your rugs recommendation. That’s like the most important thing imo.

I think a great alternative for the SOKLINT table lamp is the TÄRNABY - to me they have a similar vibe, but the latter is a bit more balanced visually AND it also has a dimmer! Reminds me of old timey petrol lamps, so the aesthetic is very specific but if that's what you're into I think it's 100% worth it (it's slightly more expensive than the Solklint). My mother in law got me one when we were in IKEA together and I am obsessed with it :D

I have multiple ikea items in my home and yet I understand exactly what you mean when you say "it looks Ikea", though I would say "it looks student flat", because it's not just an ikea piece, but normally the cheapest and and simplest in the category (Lack table, Kallax shelves, Malm bed with matching nightstands...).

honorable mention for ikea's limited editions / collabs with designers to get fun decor!!.... if you can get your hands on them before resellers do. but they're always worth keeping an eye out for!

I so agree with you about decor objects in general, not just from IKEA. I cannot understand anyone who has a designer (or anyone else) select these items, or who goes to a store & says, "I think this would look good in my space.". Decor is where you show your personality---as you say, it should be personal & meaningful, it should be something that speaks to you so strongly that it says something about who you are, what you love, if you are vibrant or peaceful, serious or a bit silly. If you fill a room with the things that speak to you & about you, the rest of the design falls into place (OK, usually---I have brought home a few things that spoke strongly to me & just never fir in anywhere---but maybe that says something about me?). Thank you, I enjoyed your IKEA walk-through & evaluation.

You have a great eye and I wouldn't disagree with any of your assessments. When you say 'these curtains look cheap and these others look high-end' I instantly see what you mean. The rug choices you made were superb. This style of video is so fun. How about doing Home Goods or other fave retailers?
