Our family went to a family reunion back in 92, if I remember. Correctly.<br> This was on the maternal side, but their relatives came from what was then,yrs.goneby, Bohemia, possibly Austria today. They had several pictures of family dwellings built on these techniques. These are very real stories, and examples of early times in our country....

Its 9° outside right now. We rarely get these cold temps in western Kentucky. I have blankets over every window and door. I have 2 milk house heaters. A quartz heater, and one of my ceiling heats on in the kitchen. The center of the house. 1600 sq. ft. Its 68 degrees in the main house, and the big bedroom Im gonna sleep in is 64°. Perfect for rest. Im gonna make it through another cold night as long as the power stays on. If not, I have a 95,000 BTU Kerosene heater. A Kerosene camp stove, and 3 coolers with prefroze ice packs. Emergency blankets, and extra warm socks.

A terrific idea, one that I was thinking about this past year. I was going to rent my house out and move a camper into my pole barn and live in that. Incidentally who is the guy in the 3rd to last picture with his head sticking out of the top of the wood stove?
