There's one statement that gets made about Hakeem, not a lot, but decently often, and I honestly think it's perfect. Hakeem was drafted BEFORE Michael Jordan and no one thinks that was a bad call.

The only player to ever win the DPOY, MVP and FMVP in a single season. Not to mention, he was the best Center in the Golden Age of Centers. Faced them all and beat them all.
He was indeed a King.

What a beast Hakeem was man... so glad he got his two finals MVPs and cemented his legacy, unlike many players with as many individual accolades that that came after him. Such a great story, loved seeing it told through your lens :)

I’ll forever remember what he used to say to Kenny all the time.

He got picked before Michael Jordan and no Rockets fan of that era ever regretted it. That tells you all you need to know.

As a life long Kareem fan, I have huge respect for Hakeem. You know how Nique told Kobe "you're the last of our kind"? That's how I feel about Hakeem. The last great old school center. I'm glad you got the clip of his block on Strickland's break away layup attempt. That was a Bo Jackson like moment, where truly shocking physical ability was on display that didn't even seem possible.

Whenever somebody puts Hakeem as their pick for all time Center... I can't even really argue even tho I choose another. He was that good

In my opinion Hakeem was perfection… defense, offense rebounds… didn’t matter… he was perfect… perfect footwork (maybe the best footwork in the history of the NBA for big men) perfect mid range, original, unpredictable. The ultimate Swiss Army knife weld at the speed of a deadly assassin, a tool for every situation. All of this will being lockdown on defense every play… and for the most part (minus the short stint with Ralph Sampson) was alone in a world of giants… and did it all with a masterclass representation of an ideal Muslim and exceptional lovable and respectable person. Between him and John Stockton are my personal all time favorites.

Dream was the best…

-Mavericks fan
