You can turn on infected wounds actually doing something in the sandbox settings, just gotta put it way up high

I haven't been worrying about infections at all. I've been running prone to illness and slow healer and not changing dirty bandages and have seen no negatives except for slightly more pain while the wound heals. Not even enough for a pain noodle to appear with three infected wounds.

I only play the challenge mode A Really CDDA so this info was another angle to utilize in the beginning. Pain is often a problem for the first night. Digging the glass out by hand increases that pain so maybe it's best to check the garage first for pliers. They get the job done quicker than by hand but they don't always spawn.

In earlier versions I died from a blood infection caused by not sterilizing my wounds.<br>If they changed something that upends this, I'm sure it's only temporary.
