I'm a pro-sculptor (clay, foam, wood) and this is actually WAY more impressive than you realize.<br>When you sculpt subtractively, you have to leave space for what WILL be, not just what is. Meaning this dude roughly rendered most of the anatomy before the cloth, and then fine-tuned all those folds & wrinkles without screwing up the shapes! That vein on his forehead means everything AROUND IT was carved away... <br>👌

Somehow I get the feeling that sculptors from the 14th-17th century were far more talented and brighter than any person, or machine today. This sculpture is unbelievable, and I have seen David in Florence, and other sculptures there, but this is out of this world. That veil. Inspiring.
