Dennis, Thanks for the great description and I'm thinking about retiring to PH like you did. I enjoy your daughter's quote that you "Have a Life" and I am seeking a true community. Plus being close to a medical school where I can occasionally give guest lectures will be fun too. My goal though is to find a location with a 10-mile long beach for bicycle riding every morning. With you brother. I'm sitting here near moalboal 10 yards from the beach having a lunch of mango, banana, durian and lechon with buko juice and my asawa of 15 years. The house is paid for, the maid takes care of everything back home on luzon including the dogs while we travel 50% of the time. All on less than my mortgage plus all my insurances cost back in the states.
