  You can get a lot more wattage out of it if you hook it up to a solar charge controller. It will turn the extra volts from higher RPM&apos;s into more amps. I&apos;ve done this with a 180V forklift motor and it charges my battery bank in short order. It is my third and final layer of backup power and I have it hooked up to a pedal system from a kid&apos;s bike.

  Hmmm. I have one motor i took out. Not sure on spec. I was thinking water wheel. But i had not done any thinking on the subject. Just a crime of opportunity. I am in 04428. There is one on the side of the road just up the street. Free. Sounds like a good pairing for solar panels. Skip the ac part of the charge. Dc to dc. Then pull your ac off the bank like normal. You have something here. I wonder the difference on fuel use. Vs a genny and battery charger.

  I like the idea of getting a free treadmill and turning the motor into a generator, but the high-voltage side makes me a little hesitant. Getting 100+ volts from a salvaged motor sounds useful, but it also means the wiring and controller have to be taken seriously. Has anyone here actually built one and measured the output under a real load? I&apos;d be interested in seeing real-world numbers rather than just the theoretical calculations.
