Great video, remember DIY'rs, the compressor is not a liquid pump and can be damaged...so...open the valve slightly, let a little in, close valve, allow system to "settle". Rinse/repeat until desired temperature is reached. It'll be fine, you can do this. Oh, and do it on a warm day, not early spring of late fall.

Our Amana was installed in 1991. No leaks, same contactor, same capacitor, same fan motor, same R22 and it runs true as ever. We're so lucky and just to keep it that way, we purchased a new ball bearing fan motor from Nidec/USmotors, a new capacitor from AmRad and a new 40A contactor. They were all together in a storage container until 2 years ago when we decided to change the motor and capacitor just for good measure. The existing Emerson fan motor has oil ports on both ends of the rotor shaft bearings and they both took a good portion of oil after 32 years. The existing capacitor still works so its a back up with the new contactor and the existing motor is still good and turning free now that its been lubricated so its a back up part as well. I believe that if folks experience a leak in their R22 HVAC, they should try to repair it and keep the R22 unit even though R22 is expensive because it transfers heat better than the new stuff does. AND, the new stuff R32 or R454b is almost as expensive as R22 ! Keep them running I say.

Watched your R410a version and ended up doing my R22 unit a couple days ago. Also helped my neighbor with his R410a unit right after. Definitely worked wonders to source recharge kits thanks to your recommendation!
