I love historical dramas. But Chinese historical dramas made me so curious and now I am addicted to them. Forbidden City  is on top of my bucket list . This documentary is such a great one.

We visited the Forbidden City in 2011. It is absolutely magnificent! You will be amazed by its beauty and architecture. It felt like you went back in time and experienced history unfolding its grandeur and mystique. I hope to visit it again someday.

It is amazing to think that a farmer built a copy of this city in the middle of no where that he rents out for filming !

Joan Chen’s English is incredible, when she moved from China to America she didn’t speak a word of the language! Her diction is so good!

I’m in awe of the architects, designers, builders, craftsmen, engineers, artisans, master builders, and hundreds of thousands of men and women who slaved in a myriad ways to create the Forbidden City and its walls, pavements and battlements. This would be nothing without the little people who laboured and shed blood, sweat and tears to create the magnificent structures. I’m sure all of this is incomprehensible to even the most educated and brilliant minds in the building industries of the world today. Even collectively, I don’t think their minds can comprehend the magnificence and magnitude of it all. I need to also mention (as an afterthought), the wonderful and creative men and women who designed the internal settings of every description of these majestic buildings.

I feel sorry for the fate of the last emperor and got expelled from the palace. Too bad he can never have 3,000 concubines and 9,999 rooms lol

I was there in 2008. One of the most amazing places I’ve ever seen.

Why it's forbidden? It's because they do something that humanity can't do and they don't want outsiders to know what they do. The emperor can have all the pretty girl for him self as concubine.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHypO2ISPas&amp;t=2025">33:45</a> why did the sound cut out? Political correctness? State censorship?
